William Kabogo Gitau was elected the first governor of Kiambu County on a TNA party ticket on March 4, 2013.
Prior to that, he had served as the Member of Parliament for Juja constituency for two terms.
During his tenure both as MP and governor, Kabogo always championed for development projects for his people.
The vocal politician who holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from Panjab University India has an enormous zeal for development projects.
He initiated several projects including provision of tapped water to locals, installation of electricity, road construction, construction of health centres, proper utilisation of bursary funds among others.
Despite losing narrowly to the incumbent Governor Ferdinand Waititu in the 2017 polls, Kabogo remains a relevant figure in Kiambu. This is due to his ability to push for social, political and economic empowerment of the electorate.
Kiambu residents need his involvement in terms of putting the elected leaders on their toes.
Kabogo also enjoys the support of a section of residents in the county and his ability to go to the ground and listen to the people at the grassroots is something that can be beneficial to the county's leadership. The flamboyant politician is also responsible for initiating most of the development projects in the county and Waititu should consult him to find out the vision he had for Kiambu.
His good relationship with the president and his deputy also puts him in an appropriate position to foster unity in the county and campaign for more development projects for the people of Kiambu.
Kiambu will no doubt benefit if Kabogo actively pushes for social and economic development in the county.
