Emerging details indicate that former Subukia Member of Parliament Koigi wa Wamwere has been out of the country for the last one week.
The veteran politician made the revelation when he appeared for an interview on Sauti ya Mwananchi Radio Cheche show, Saturday evening.
The season politician, who has been very vocal about the nation's political direction ahead of the 2022 polls, said that he has been on a personal visit to Somaliland.
"Sijakuwa nchini maana nimekuwa nje kidogo katika nchi ya Somaliland (I have not been around, I have been to Somaliland)," he said.
Koigi lauded the Somaliland government for its good and development-based leadership, ranking it among the most efficient governments in the continent.
He bashed the international community and African Union (AU) for refusing to acknowledge the small state which broke away from the larger Somalia years back.
He termed it funny that the United Nations has been pressuring the country to rejoin Somalia, wondering how a peaceful and stable nation can be asked to join a war-torn counterpart.
"Iweje jamii ya kimataifa inataka Somaliland, nchi iliyoendelea na yenye amani irudi kushikana na Somalia ambayo imekwama katika vita.(How do you pressure a developed country to reunite with an unstable neighbour? It should be vice versa)," he said.
