Addressing media in Nakuru on Saturday led by Duke Ombagi, they accused Governor Kinyanjui of operating at the Milimani offices instead of the county headquarters where he can be easily accessed.

“We are disappointed with the leadership of this county which has neglected the youths and we demand that the governor calls a sitting with the youth leadership,” Ombagi said.

The youths, who spearheaded the process of removal of former CeC Halima Gababa from the sports docket, now want the position replaced by a young person.

Peter Maritim representing youths living with disability in Nakuru county called on the county government to ensure the five percent tenders are issued to the PLWDs as enshrined in the constitution.

He also questioned why the infrastructure in Nakuru is not PLWDs friendly.

“As PLWDs in Nakuru county we are calling on governor Kinyanjui to ensure we get our 5 percent tenders and also ensure all the buildings in Nakuru are friendly to us,” said Maritim.

Lucy Anne and Alfred Kitur from Njoro and Nakuru West sub-counties accused Kinyanjui of favouring some regions in his appointments.

“Representation should be across all the sub-counties,” they said.

The youths were speaking during their meeting convened by Chairman Daniel Gitau on Saturday where they also awarded best CECs and chief officers in Nakuru County for empowering youths in their respective dockets.
