Kisumu Women Rep Rose Buyu has made shocking revelations about the ongoing demolition of the Ukay Mall in Westlands, calling it unfair.
According to her, the legal process that precedes the erection of structures was followed to the letter before the mall was put up.
This throws up questions of why the building was authorised only for it to be targeted for demolition over being built in riparian land.
Owners claim that they had sought a court stay order which has been disregarded by those behind the demolitions.
"The owner of the mall said that he came with his wife because he was about to collapse. I don't know if he has collapsed," Rose Buyu said.
She spoke Friday morning in a panel discussion on a local television programme.
The government announced that it would bring down structures built on riparian land.
