The Nakuru teacher who emerged the overall winner of the Global Teacher Prize, bagging Sh100 million (USD1 million) returned to Kenya on March 27.
Tabichi was welcomed back by his students and teachers of Keriko High School upon arrival.
It was all songs, dance and cheers when the students, teachers and a section of leaders saw the 36-year-old teacher at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.
Dancers in traditional attire and some of the students waved signs with messages and lifted the teacher shoulder-high to welcome him back.
Tabichi, a Physics and Mathematics teacher, was recognized for his efforts in changing and improving the lives of students in his school.
The 36-year-old teacher gives away 80 per cent of his monthly salary to help poor students in his school who cannot afford uniforms and books.
He also revealed that he will use part of his prize to build a computer laboratory in his school, which is one of the poorly-resourced school in the remote parts of Njoro.
The teacher further said that he will sponsor the needy and bright students in the area so they can continue with their studies.
