The March 4 handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM party leader Raila Odinga marked the end of opposition in the country.
Since then, says former Gem MP Jakoyo Midiwo, the opposition is 'very much dead', and the Jubilee regime has no one to keep it in check.
Speaking on Tuesday during a live show on NTV, he regretted that the controversial Finance Bill 2018 was passed in the National Assembly last week, saying it should not have sailed through if there was a proper opposition in place.
Midiwo, who is Raila's cousin, reached out to Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi urging him to rise to the occasion and take the position of unofficial leader of the opposition.
"Musalia Mudavadi is the only person in the opposition who has spoken like he means well for Kenyans. These other people...what they are doing is committing a crime against Kenyans," he said.
Mudavadi recently asked Uhuru to resign and call for election saying his government was broke and unable to develop sound fiscal and monetary policies.
Midiwo wondered how Raila endorsed Uhuru's proposals without calling for a debate on some issues which he said were against the majority of Kenyans.
"I was shocked Raila Odinga agreed with Uhuru Kenyatta (on the Finance Bill 2018) without debate," the ex-MP said.
