The government has been challenged to work closely with educationists in improving the state of schools at the grass root level.
Rotary Club of Nakuru President Elizabeth Ndung’u said schools at grassroots still face numerous challenges ranging from infrastructure to equipping and staffing.
Ndung’u spoke on Thursday at Central Primary school in Kiamaina Ward, Bahati sub-County of Nakuru County during the handing over of revision textbooks for KCPE candidates donated by Oxford University through Rotary Clubs of Kenya.
“Already more than 10 schools in Nakuru County have benefited from the books donation program in line with Rotary Club focus areas where Education is one of them,” she said.
Other areas the club focuses on including Sanitation and Hygiene for Primary schools as well as capacity building for teachers and learners.
The club is also focusing on health matters which include preventive, treatment and maternal healthcare.
