Mr. Moi, who traversed the county in the company of area MP Gladys Wanga, is on a two days trip which ends on Sunday.

"I have known Raila Odinga for a long time. He's a statesman and does not hold grudges with people who mistreat him," he said amid cheers from the worshippers in a local church.

This was the first ever trip by Moi, the son of Kenya's second President Daniel Moi, who has expressed interest to succeed Uhuru Kenyatta.

Further, he said, he will work closely with Raila Odinga to develop the region which has been subjected to discrimination since independence.

"I have no problem working with Raila. He's my political teacher and I borrow a lot from him," said Moi, adding that Raila's new roles as AU envoy on Infrastructural Development will spur growth in Kenya.

In April this year, Moi hosted Raila at his father's Kabarak home where the two are said to have agreed to work together.

The visit did not go down well with Deputy President William Ruto, who is said to be against partnership between Moi and Mr. Odinga.
