Opposition leader Raila Odinga was missing in action as fellow political leaders convened to bid farewell to fallen soccer master James Radido alias 'Odu Cobra'.
Cobra was laid to rest in Ugenya Constituency in Raila's backyard of Siaya county on Saturday, in a heavily attended event that saw emotions hit the ceiling.
It was rather unlike him not to attend, considering that the former Prime Minister is a soccer lover who has travelled miles to watch the good game.
And Odu having been a very notable link in bettering the game, Raila, the patron of Kenyan Premier League defending champions Gor Mahia was much expected to attend.
Also, considering that Cobra died while reportedly trying to save fellow civilians during last months Riverside terror attack in Nairobi, it would have been important to attend.
Such people are considered heroes who demand national respect and added to his position as a celebrated Kenyan, he needed to be laid to rest with more honour.
And since President Uhuru Kenyatta might not have been aware of the same, Raila must have, judging by his love for soccer and should have made some time for Cobra.
Finally, Raila went as far as Koru, Kisumu County to attend the burial of former Youth Fund boss Bruce Odhiambo and should have done the same to Cobra in Ugenya, only a short drive from his Bondo home.
Leaders who attended Cobra's funeral include Raila's Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party Secretary General Edwin Sifuna and Siaya Senator James Orengo.
