Residents neighbouring Wamunyu market in Mwala sub-county are counting losses after marauding stray dogs attacked and killed their livestock.
Speaking on Wednesday the residents led by area headman Ivia Wa Ngumbi said that the dogs have been killing goats and sheep in the area at night.
They disclosed that the dogs strayed after the owner who is alleged to be a witch doctor, went away leaving them unattended.
"Last week on Tuesday night they killed and fed on a sheep in my home and went ahead to attack and feed on a goat and her kid at a nearby home. We have tried chasing them away in vain because they are very hostile," said Ngumbi.
Ngumbi said that the dogs are posing danger and they fear they may attack someone.
"The dogs are posing risk to us and more so our kids. A bite from the dog which may have rabies could be deadly and expensive to treat. We fear for our kids," said Ngumbi.
The residents called upon the public health personnel in the area to find a way of doing away with the dogs from the area before they start attacking locals.
