Political commentator and columnist Gabriel Oguda has slammed Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen over the debate on the planned Mau Forest evictions.

Murkomen has been very vocal on the issue and has accused Cabinet Secretary for Environment Keriako Tobiko and Rift Valley Regional Commissioner George Natembeya of plans to kick out squatters from the forest without a directive from President Uhuru Kenyatta.

"There will be no eviction from Masai Mau Trust Land until President Uhuru Kenyatta speaks. CS Tobiko who is conflicted has no moral authority to evict people against the law. We have asked Kenyans to stay put and our children to go to school like children of all other Kenyans!" he said a few days ago.

However, Oguda criticised Murkomen saying instead of attacking Tobiko and Natembeya, he should take the fight to Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i who oversees all government projects on behalf of his boss President Kenyatta.

He referred to Matiang'i's role as the chairperson of National Development Implementation and Communication Committee, which is mandated to supervise the execution of government programmes, projects and the Big Four Agenda.

"George Natembeya takes orders from his boss, the Interior PS, who takes instructions from Dr Fred Matiang'i - who now supervises all government projects on behalf of the President. If Murkomen is man enough, he should face Dr Matiang'i instead of taking aim at Keriako Tobiko," he tweeted on Thursday.

Oguda further claimed Jubilee MPs allied to Ruto's Tanga Tanga faction were lashing out at CS Tobiko since he was inclined to the handshake between President Uhuru and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, which the DP's side has been fighting.

"It's easy see why Pro-Ruto MPs are calling out Tobiko on the Mau issue. Tobiko belongs to the TNA wing of Jubilee, whose super CS Matiang'i is now being fronted as the 2022 handshake candidate. Had Tobiko been a Ruto CS, all this noise would've been dead," the columnist said.
