Speaking during a burial ceremony in Ugenya constituency, Siaya County on Sunday, Odhiambo decried the growing influx of the Chinese in Kenya, calling for the government's intervention.

He blamed the government for sitting pretty as the Chinese take over the Kenyan economy, calling for a quick solution.

Failure to this, he said, the Kenyan economy will further deteriorate, relegating Kenya as compared to her lower ranked neighbours.

"The Chinese have raided Kenya’s top market and the leadership is seated just looking. We have brilliant brains in this country that need to caucus and help the leadership of Kenya to ensure we have a stable shilling.

"We need to ensure that the stock exchange of Kenya is not controlled by outsiders. Uganda and Rwanda now export much more than Kenya exports. The shilling is depreciating," he is quoted by the Citizen Digital.

His remarks were echoed by Siaya Senator and former area lawmaker James Orengo who blamed the Chinese invasion on impunity.

Orengo challenged president Uhuru Kenyatta to personally intervene.

“In Kenya there is too much impunity. Even in the war against corruption there are still some secret powers and I’m challenging President Uhuru Kenyatta to move a notch a little higher,” the Senate Minority Leader said.
