Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has elicited mixed reactions on social media after he sensationally claimed on a live TV interview that he and Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu used to smoke marijuana together.
Speaking on Citizen TV's JKL show on Wednesday, Sonko, however, claimed that he has since abandoned the habit while Waititu allegedly continues to smoke the illegal drug.
"I have evidence, we used to smoke with him in the toilet, he used to hide it inside his socks. I stopped smoking bhang but Waititu still continues with it even as governor," said Sonko.
As a result, Sonko accused his Kiambu counterpart of 'madness' following Waititu's recent opposition of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system which he claims would render millions of people in the matatu sector jobless if implemented at the moment.
The allegations left his host Jeff Koinange feeling uncomfortable, leading him to put a disclaimer that it was Sonko's views and not his or those of his employer.
Here are some of the reactions to Sonko's allegations of Waititu being a bhang smoker.
