Mitumba business in Kenya has become rampant with many youths venturing into it with every passing day. It is no surprise nor secret, most of them are making a kill out of it.
It usually flooded with many people due to various factors. For instance, it requires less capital to start and so on.
Meet a Man by the name Isaac Mwonga, he is a businessman selling Mitumba in Nairobi and Mombasa. Surprisingly, he is a student in Jkuat pursuing a science course.
He ventured into the business 8 years ago, 2012 and like any other business, at first and sometimes depending on popularity and market, you might go down in flames. In other words, you might end up not selling a commodity in that particular day.
He experienced the aforementioned challenges while running his business, he even confessed of giving up. However, despite of the challenges, he fought tooth and nail until he succeeded. They say "hard work pays", he is currently enjoying the fruits of his efforts.
He sells a variety of mitumba stocks ranging from socks, blouses, trousers and other sorts of clothes and each bale goes at ksh 2000. So in a day he can sell 4-6 bales depending on the level of demand. This amounts to over ksh 50000 weekly.
Here are his remarks regarding the business
"Actually, I will start by saying that the business is quite promising and it is no doubts my friends, I am making fortune out of it.
"It's 8 years down the line since I ventured into this business. At onset, I had a lot of challenges while running the business ranging from lacking customers and capital," he said.
He further narrated, "Nevertheless, I became more popular in the market with time. Today as I speak, I have a number of customers who often bother me with phone calls inquiring the goods."
"I am also a student in Jkuat pursing a degree course. I have employed some boys who assist me in running the business while l am in School. I make over Sh50000 weekly."
