Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati on Sunday stamped his authority among the youthful population when he took Kisii by storm during President Uhuru Kenyatta's visit on Sunday.
In a function attended by thousands of youths across the South Nyanza region, Arati may have choose it as an ideal place to officially announce his intention to join Gusii politics after a decade in Nairobi.
By 6am, youths carrying placards and burners in Arati's name made oscillations around Kisii town as the chanted pro-Arati slogans across the town bringing business into a standstill.
And by the time Uhuru arrived in the afternoon, the entire field at Kisii School was dominated by campaign materials in support of the MP, who is believed to be keen with Kisii gubernatorial seat.
"This is my home and nobody should be bothered by my presence around. I can come anytime and work with anybody. It should not threaten anyone.
"I was born in Kisii and I serve Kenyans. Due to handshake, I had to come and give the president the reception he needs. We must preach peace and unity," said the second term ODM lawmaker.
Early this year, Arati made intention known when he organised a function at his Bobasi home where he was declared Gusii community spokesman, a move that did not go well with other local leaders.
What followed was a campaign across Kisii and Nyamira where local leaders bashed him on grounds that he should concentrate in Nairobi politics.
