Speaking at the Jomo Kenyatta Sports Ground on Saturday, Madam  Pauline Dola urged Kisumu sub-county commissioners, chiefs and their assistants to ban any night music played within the lakeside county.

She, warned any law enforcer not to provide the license to people who would want to conduct disco matanga, adding that whoever does so will be dealt with in accordance with the law.

“I want to warn our chiefs and their assistants that should they issue permits to play music at night during funerals within the county then they will be dealt with in accordance to the law,” she noted.

According to madam Dola, disco matanga is the root cause of insecurity and immorality, adding that young girls engage in sex which results to early pregnancies.

“We have realized that disco matanga contributes to insecurity within some parts of the county. It also contributes to that issue of early pregnancy among girls and this has now made us ban it within the entire county with immediate effect,” she added.

She noted that the government has put in proper measures to ensure adequate security is availed during the national examination period, saying whoever will engage in exam malpractice shall be dealt with ruthlessly.

Dola urged school kids to stay away from night discos before and after exams, saying the December holiday is very long and might be tempting.
