The delegation from WFP was led by Anelisa Conte.

Issuing an update via his official Twitter account after the meeting, Korane revealed that their discussions revolved around tackling food security and cushioning the effects of drought in future.

"Met top officials of @WFP led by Ms Analisa Conte to map out strategies of tackling food shortages in Garissa. Our discussions focused on Sustainable Food Systems Program that would improve community resilience and strengthen County Government structures to tackle famine," Korane said.

The WFP delegation came at a time when the national government in conjunction with the Garissa county government launched a relief food distribution programme to curb the biting food shortage as a result of the ongoing drought.

While launching the exercise, Devolution Cabinet Secretary, Eugine Wamalwa reiterated that no Kenyan would die out of hunger.

In the Tuesday exercise, locals received maize supplies and foodstuffs.

Garissa county has been listed among other 13 counties worst hit by drought.
