Parliament Minority Leader, John Mbadi has dared MPs allied to the National Super Alliance (NASA) coalition to impeach him as they had threatened.
Mbadi said he would never be threatened by the impeachment threats as those propagating for his removal from his prestigious Parliament post are not the ones who voted for him to take over the position.
Mbadi has been under pressure to explain why he went against the wishes of majority opposition MPs to vote against the new 8 per cent tax on petroleum products.
The Suba South MP said he had every right to support the new tax as it will help the country raise money to settle the huge debts it has accrued over the last five years.
The MP was speaking during a fundraiser at Nyandiwa Catholic Church.
"Some MPs are intimidating me. It is very sad that even those who did not elect me as a Minority Leader are campaigning for my ouster," he said as quoted by The Standard.
During last Thursday's debate on the 2018 Finance Bill in which the new 8 per cent fuel tax was factored in, Mbadi in his contribution in Parliament referred to MPs who were opposed to it as "empty skulls".
The MPs, majority of whom were from the NASA coalition shouted Mbadi down before he could complete his submission.
