Fights and arguments are common in relationships. Though they may take some time to resolve, it is good to make up with your partner shortly after having an argument.

Here are some of the things you should not do after a fight with your partner.

1. Acting like nothing happened

After a fight or an argument, some couples act like nothing happened and they simply move on with their lives. This is not right. If you are the one who caused the fight, do as much as you can to reconnect with your partner. Your spouse could still be bothered by the fight. Ensure you resolve the issues in your relationship and find solutions to any challenges that you might be facing to avoid holding a grudge against each other.

2. Bringing the argument in future

This is one of the biggest mistakes many people tend to make. Bringing up a past argument should be highly discouraged. If the fight occurred in the past and you resolved it, you should never refer to the same issue in future. Only focus on the issue at hand and avoid reminding your partner of their past mistakes.

3. Give your partner the silent treatment

Giving your partner the silent treatment after a fight will only hurt them more. This amounts to emotional abuse and your partner might think you are intentionally punishing them. If you need some space after the fight, ensure you communicate this to your partner.
