Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader and opposition chief Raila Odinga has for the first time responded to the claims of being associated with witches and witchcraft.

Speaking at Nyatike constituency in Migori county on Friday during the homecoming ceremony of the area member of parliament Tom Adege, Raila said that he would not be intimidated and will continue pushing for constitutional reforms and good governance. 

Rails said that those who have branded him a witch are misguided because he is currently involved in healing the nation with President Uhuru Kenyatta after the famous March 9, 2018 handshake. 

“Some people like calling me a witch and say I use lots of proverbs while talking. Yes, I am a doctor because President Uhuru Kenyatta and I are trying to heal what has been ailing this country," Raila said.

Raila also added that nobody has been prevented from seeking the services of the witch doctors 

“Witch doctors are there in society. No one has been denied the chance to visit them. What is the farce about it?" he posed.

A section of Raila's rivals including Deputy President William Ruto and his allies have on several occasions been quoted calling Raila a witch and associating him with witchcraft. 

Raila who has not officially declared his 2022 presidential bid has been engaging in ugly public spats with the DP.
