Nairobi governor Mike Sonko has revealed what coerced him to nominate Miguna Miguna as his deputy on May 17, 2018.
The flamboyant city boss picked the Canadian- based lawyer following the abrupt resignation of his former deputy Governor, Polycarp Igathe in January, 2018 who cited frosty working relationship with his boss.
While speaking on Milele Fm on Wednesday , Sonko divulged that he struck the decision in a view to countering the robust 'meddling and intimidation' he had been receiving from some quarters in the political arena.
“I want to apologise because I selected Miguna Miguna out of anger and bitterness. There was a lot of pressure, intimidation and blackmail and so I gave them Miguna,” Sonko said during the interview .
The nomination by the governor, however, did not see the light of the day as the Jubilee-aligned members of the county assembly flatly rejected it on the grounds of ineligibility.
