A 41-year-old man has been found dead in Masinga, Machakos County.
The night guard's body was discovered in Kithyoko market on Thursday morning.
The deceased worked as a watchman at one of the stores in the market.
Confirming the incident, the area chief Daniel Muthoka said he was notified of the incident by a worker at the shop.
"I received a call from a worker in one of the stores, he told me that when they came for work their watchman was lying still looking dead," Muthoka said.
Muthoka said the cause of the man's death is still a mystery.
He said the body had no visible marks.
"No one knows for sure the cause of his death because the body had no marks. Unless an autopsy is conducted, we can't conclude on the cause, "he said.
"When I reached the scene, I confirmed that the man was dead. I notified the police who came and took the body," Muthoka added.
He addressed the press in Masinga on Wednesday.
Muthoka said police have launched investigations into the incident.
The body was moved to Matuu Mediance mortuary.
