Suna East MP Junet Mohamed has reacted to the dramatic change of tune by a section of Jubilee allied MPs who were opposed to BBI consultative forums.
In a series of tweets of on Tuesday, Mohammed wondered why the leaders allied to Deputy President William Ruto decided to declare that they will be attending all BBI meetings.
He said that they had claimed that the campaigns for the report is a wastage of resources and now they want to join them.
"Having held two successful BBI meetings in Kisii and Kakamega during which Tanga Tanga MPs berated us with wasting taxpayers money, we are pleasantly surprised with their new change of heart," he opined.
The lawmaker also said that he is hopeful that the leaders do not want to take advantage of the meetings to stage showdowns. He argued that there is need for sobriety when addressing the issue of BBI and not dramatic comments meant to please their masters.
"It is my hope that they are coming to Mombasa ready to focus on what’s important and NOT for sideshows. Because should they attempt sideshows, they’ll have themselves to blame. BBI is about national inclusivity. Glad to welcome them to Mombasa," he tweeted.
He went on to welcome the leaders to the meetings saying that it is important for them to be part of the fight for a better Kenya, adding that the report is not a waste of resources as they had claimed.
"So, while I welcome them to Mombasa - as that is the very essence of BBI - I would have been very happy if they would now confirm to Kenyans that the exercise is no longer a “waste of public resources”.
