On Thursday, the Employment and Labour Relationship Court ruled that the county has no mandate to sack the executive who were hired on contracts of two to three years.

While delivering the ruling on the matter, Judge Nduma Nderi said that the governor will retain all the executives in his team until the hearing and determination of a case filed by County Secretary Francis Ominde.

“Pending the inter-parties hearing of the application, the provision in the petitioners’ appointment letter and the appointment letters issued to the interested parties limiting their respective tenures in office to two or three years in each case are hereby suspended and the petitioner and interested parties shall remain in office and continue to serve in their respective positions,” Justice Nderi ordered.

The case commences on February 12, 2020.

Nderi said that it is within the law for the governor not to change the cabinet until a conservatory order is obtained.

The governor has been planning to make some changes in his team to streamline operations in the county.
