The body of Faith Wangui a mother of two and a resident of Bahati in Nakuru County who went missing last week has been recovered from the forest.
According to Jacinta Wangechi who is the police commander in Bahati sub county, the disfigured body was discovered by cattlemen who were looking after their livestock on Saturday evening in Menengai forest.
The officer denoted that the woman might have been assaulted before being killed and later dumped into the forest.
“Preliminary investigations reveal the deceased might have been burnt with acid, as her body was totally mutilated,” Wangechi told Standard Digital.
She added that officers have started an investigation to ensure that the perpetrators are arrested with immediate effect.
Wangui’s family has said that her death might have resulted from relationships issues with her estranged lover with whom she had separated a couple of months ago.
Joseph Mwangi who is Wangui’s brother said that while leaving, Wangui had said that she was going to meet her ally in Nakuru town on Sunday without revealing who exactly the person was.
She later called one of her sisters at around 8 PM telling her that she would join them later for dinner. The phone was suddenly switched off and communication cut henceforth.
“We got worried after my sister's phone was switched off and did not return home,” Mwangi said.
The brother has asked police to investigate and ensure that the perpetrators are arrested. The police took Wangui’s body to Nakuru county morgue to await postmortem.
