Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi has cast doubt on the ability of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) ability to hold credible presidential elections.
Speaking during an interview with K24 on Sunday, Musalia said that the commission needs to be restructured to ensure it can hold a credible poll.
He alluded that several things must be put in order within the commission before the country can go to another poll."I would flag the IEBC. Have we reformed our IEBC? I don't think so. Here we are planning for the next stage but we have not reformed the IEBC," he stated.
The remarks come barely a month after IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati said that the commission will hold the 2022 general election.
During the same interview, he defended his book Soaring Above the Storms of Passion, saying it is a reflection of the real situation.
The Former Vice President was responding to criticisms that the book was exaggerated.
Musalia reiterated that he only brought out his past political footsteps to enable Kenyans to get the right picture of things.
"It must never be forgotten that a majority of Kenyans today are very young people and may never have known the kind of intrigues that go into public office and some of the issues that have brought us where we are today," he said.
