Makueni MP Daniel Maanzo is serving his second term in office.
Maanzo was first elected in 2013 on a Wiper party ticket.
He is among the most vocal Kamba MPs and a close ally of former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka.
Maanzo is also among the top Kamba lawyers and has represented several senior politicians in court cases.
He was part of the legal team that represented former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka in their presidential petition that saw the Supreme Court nullify President Uhuru Kenyatta’s August 8, 2017 victory.
Maanzo was born in 1971 at Yekanga village in Makueni County.
He schooled at Yekanga primary school before proceeding to Starehe Boys Centre for his secondary education.
After his secondary education, Maanzo enrolled for a Bachelor’s Degree in Law at the University of Nairobi (UoN).
Maanzo also holds a Master’s Degree in Law from the UoN and a Postgraduate Diploma from the Kenya School of Law (KSL).
He is an advocate of the High Court and is specialized in constitutional law.
Maanzo is the founder and partner of Maanzo and Co- Advocates law firm.
Before joining politics, Maanzo worked as a Legal Secretary in the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
Maanzo is married with children.
Political analysts observe that he is among top politicians to shape the Ukambani 2022 succession politics.
There are claims that Maanzo could contest for the Makueni gubernatorial seat in the 2022 general election.
