The teenage girl delivered in the examination room at Misuuni primary school as she was sitting for her English exams on Tuesday.

She went into labor in the exam room, where she was assisted by the school's headteacher and the centre's examinations officials to give birth.

The school's headteacher Naomi Mbaki told the press that the pupil was rushed to Mbiti Health Centre after she gave birth to a healthy baby girl.

"We immediately rushed her to Mbiti Health Center for her and the baby to receive specialized medication, both of them have been admitted at the facility," Mbaki said.

The girl, however, continued with her afternoon exam at the hospital since she was still weak.

She took her English Composition examination at the hospital.

The exams started calmly in the whole county.

County commissioner Samuel Kimiti assured the candidates of their safety during the entire KCPE examinations period.

Kimiti said security has been beefed up in both Kitui South and Kitui East Sub-counties where cases of conflicts between the locals and Somali herdsmen were recently witnessed.
