Kisii County Deputy Governor Joash Maangi has challenged parents in the county to invest in their children through education.
Maangi said it is only through education poverty can be eradicated from the community.
Speaking on Tuesday afternoon when he graced the roll-out of 'Jukumu Langu' publication in Kisii County, the county second in command said Kisii region has bright minds which should not be wasted.
"I want to appeal to parents whenever they are to invest more in their children through education. Any parents who will deny his or her child education is an enemy to the well being of the future generation," pointed out Maangi.
The Deputy Governor warned parents against venturing into alcoholism and forget parental responsibilities.
He reiterated that poverty will not be eradicated from villages if young people do not go to school.
"Since the government is offering free day primary and secondary education, no child should miss education. I'm encouraging parents across the county to value education," he added.
Maangi assured that the county government will continue offering bursaries to students in secondary, colleges and universities.
