Speaking during an interview with Citizen TV on Tuesday, the second term Jubilee legislator asked the Tanga Tanga team to tone down, adding that Kenyans are interested in development.

Kuria also seemed to agree that hundreds of projects launched by the DP in Central Kenya region for the last year are yet to kick off despite the DP's assurance.

"With the way the Tanga Tanga is executing, they lack solutions. I think that's why the president's fury is coming out. This notion that one superman can go round the country dishing development when we have huge issues is a problem for me.

"I think that whole Tanga Tanga thing is creating a personality cult. When you listen to their speeches, it's first person singular," said Kuria.

The Gatundu South MP had at first joined DP William Ruto's camp before defecting by announcing his own presidential bid. He is keen to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta, who hails from his constituency.

His remarks come few days after President Uhuru launched a scathing attack against the Tanga Tanga team, accusing it of sabotaging his administration.

“These thugs that we elected are busy politicking. They should not think I am their boy, they will not stop me from constructing roads. They didn’t look for votes on my behalf. I went looking for my votes. This rubbish should stop bothering me,” said Kenyatta on Sunday at Kasarani.
