Most of the times we consume any food that comes our way without first considering the harm they can cause to our bodies. Most of the foods contain additives that are not suitable for our bodies and they then lead to health issues.

These additives are mostly used to increase the foods shelf life, its appearance as well as the flavour. 

Some of these additives are;

1. Food Dyes

The artificial colourings added in different foods have been found to lead to chromosomal damage, reduced IQ in children and brain nerve transmission. These dyes are added in soft drinks, candy, ice creams and also cocktails.

2. Sodium nitrite

This is mostly contained in hotdogs, bacon, canned beef and smoked fish. This additive is carcinogenic once it enters the bloodstream and can cause destruction of internal body organs.

3. Monosodium Glutamate

This is an amino acid added in foods to increase flavour and it tends to excite body cells leading to obesity, eye damage, depression and also fatigue. It is mostly found in foods such as most snacks, cookies and also in chips.

4. Artificial sweeteners

Aspartame which is the component of sweeteners contains carcinogenic effects that lead to dizziness, headaches, migraines and mental disorders. Some of the food to avoid with this aspartame are sugar-free sodas, baking foods, breath-mints and desserts among more others.
