As Kenyans gathered in several government headquarters to celebrate Mashujaa Day, former IEBC commissioner Roselyn Akombe revealed her hero, several miles away from her Nyamira native.
In her tweet, Ms. Akombe, who resigned few days to October 2017 repeat elections, rekindled memories of the elections after naming slain IEBC ICT officer Chris Msando as her hero.
"Chris Msando, you will forever be my #MashujaaDay hero for standing for the truth and integrity and sadly paying the ultimate price in the most brutal and horrific manner.
"May your kids grow up with the knowledge of your service to your country," she wrote.
Mr. Msando was killed just a week to elections and tyw government is yet to arrest his killers, over a year later.
But in September, President Uhuru Kenyatta, whose regime was dragged to Msando's death, rewarded his wife Eve by appointment her Export Authority as a Board member.
Akombe, at one point had a section of Nyamira elders pushing her to contest for Nyamira gubernatorial elections, an issue she has never spoken about.
