President Uhuru Kenyatta has yet again left his lieutenants and supporters in shock after warning that against taking his silence for 'granted' in the ongoing succession battles.
While has allies are either rooting for Deputy President William Ruto or supporting constitutional changes to create a position for him, a charged Uhuru said in his Nyeri backyard that he's 'tired' with endless politics.
“Don’t think I’m a fool by keeping silent on issues of politics; I will give my voice come 2022,” Uhuru said.
His statements comes amid pressure from Rift Valley politicians to have him endorsing Mr. Ruto as a sign of keeping his promises.
But in Nyeri, a rather displeased Uhuru sent a signal that he could settle for a shocking candidate when the right time comes.
"For now let's work for the people. They need development and not endless politics. When that time comes, I'll pick my candidate and the choice my shock you," he reportedly said in mother tongue.
In recent weeks, a team of politicians led by Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichungwah have openly claimed that the Mt Kenya region needs to prepare because Uhuru's exit might leave a vacancy in the region.
However, Uhuru seemed to imply that he still remains that regions kingpin, adding that he shall give them directions when time comes.
The tone of the president seems totally different from his earlier gesture before 2017 polls that he shall endorse the DP.
