Bahati sub-county police boss Jacinta Wangeci said the 25-year-old teacher has been on the run after committing the heinous act.

Police had written to the DPP for advice over the case and Wangeci said they are still looking for the suspect who sneaked the female student out of school before he sexually assaulted her.

The matter was reported at Bondeni Police Station on June 27 and the teacher recorded a statement with the police before he went into hiding.

“We are still looking for the teacher, who has since been suspended, to face defilement charges,” said the police boss.

Speaking on Thursday, the girl’s mother cried for justice saying the teacher who defiled her daughter should be arrested.

She accused the school's management of laxity and bias on the matter claiming that the school has refused to allow her daughter back after she was expelled on June 5 for sneaking out.

“Our efforts to have her allowed back to school have been fruitless. It is unfortunate that she is missing lessons yet she will sit the same exams with the rest of her colleagues.”

“All I want is justice for my daughter. The teacher who defiled her should be punished and the school should allow her back to class,” said the mother.

Area education director Joel Kaunda said officials from the Ministry of Education are investigating the claims and they will address them and try to resolve the matter.

“Quality assurance officers have been conducting investigations into the claims. What is left is for us is to meet the management to resolve the matter,” said Kaunda.
