On Wednesday, the elders said that they have noticed rising political temperatures in Mt Kenya region because of politics being perpetrated by DP Ruto allies.

"In particular we have noticed an increasing pattern where all political energy appears to be directed at Mt Kenya region where some politicians are insulting the President with impunity," the elders said warning that "We want to warn them that the day of reckoning is coming."

They lamented that some leaders have resolved to insult the head of state, adding that their day of reckoning is coming.

The elders also said that they are fully behind President Kenyatta as he seeks to leave behind a legacy when he completes his second and final term in office. The remarks of the elders come at a backdrop of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report implementation.

Soon after the launch of the BBI report, DP Ruto allies yet again took the political stage by storm saying the proposals in the report should be implemented by Parliament.Another faction led by Raila Odinga argued that the proposals should be implemented through a referendum, a push and pull that saw Uhuru indirectly lecture the brigade.

Last week, the faction said that it is ready to support whichever model that is best to implement the report.
