President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM party leader Raila Odinga are expected to visit Kisumu County on Thursday next week.
The two will lead the official launch of the pilot phase of the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) program.
There’s no doubt that some people will greatly benefit from the two leaders’ visit. Some of the beneficiaries include;
1. Residents of Kisumu
Residents of Kisumu County are set to become the biggest beneficiaries of the Uhuru, Raila Visit. After launch of the pilot UHC program, residents who will already have registered will be able to access free medical care in public hospitals.
The registration exercise is currently on-going. An adult needs a national identification card, while a child needs a birth certificate to be registered.
2. Kisumu Governor
Kisumu governor Anyang’ Nyong’o stands to massively benefit from the impending Uhuru, Raila tour. Politically, Nyong’o will take all the credit for being the first Luo Nyanza Governor to host the two leaders after the March 09, 2018 handshake.
If he plays his cards well, the two leaders’ visit can be a sure bet towards giving him the second term in office in 2022.
3. County Members of Parliament
The county has seven constituencies meaning there are seven Members of Parliament (MPs), in the devolved unit.
The MPs will use the visit to pass their requests to the Head of State regarding what development projects they want implemented in their areas.
