Nakuru-based political commentator Mwangi Njui has weighed in on the recent claims of bribery in the National Assembly.
This follows claims from a section of parliamentarians that some of them were influenced to throw away the contraband sugar report on Thursday.
Speaking on Radio Sauti ya Mwananchi's 'Cheche' on Saturday, Njui bashed the legislators for 'stooping too low', considering that their salary is almost at around one million shillings.
"Imebidi wachume haraka haraka kabla ufisadi haujakatizwa nchini (they are in a hurry to rip before corruption is completely done away with)," he said.
The majority of the parliamentarians also acquitted Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich and his former Industrialization counterpart Aden Mohammed of any blame.
According to Njui, most of the lawmakers were out to protect Cabinet Secretaries.
"Hawangekubali mawaziri wachunguzwe maana pesa zitawatoka (they had to protect the Cabinet Secretaries to keep benefiting)," he added.
The claims of bribery in parliament were first raised by Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa before similar sentiments by Kimani Ngunjiri.
