Kisumu County Deputy Governor Dr Ochieng Owili together with the County Executive for Business, Energy, and Industry Alice Moraa have today opened the 16th  Chandarana food plus supermarket in Kisumu .

Speaking at the launch, the Deputy Governor urged Chandarana's management to engage local producers in order to strengthen  the county's economy.

"We are glad you chose Kisumu as your next destination, and we urge you to be a marketer for our producers so that together we can move Kisumu from being a consumer county as perceived by many," he said.

Dr Owili urged more investors to come on board adding that Kisumu is a hospitable county with great potential. 

He noted that such initiatives will help create more employment opportunities to the residents.  

Hanif Rajan, Chandarana's Director of Operations applauded Kisumu County Government for creating an enabling environment that has, and continues to propel investment from different partners. 

He said Kisumu was the perfect investment destination, and vowed to spearhead the opening of additional branches in the region.

"For us to come here means the environment is ripe. This is the beginning, more branches are coming," he said. 

The Chandarana outlet becomes the first in Kisumu with fifteen other branches in different parts of the country.
