Deputy President William Ruto on Monday visited Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka in Nairobi to condole with the family following the loss of their dad Mzee Peter Musyoka Mairu.

In a tweet, the DP noted that the late mzee Mairu was a generous man who dedicated his time in serving the community.

"Mzee Peter Musyoka Mairu was an affable, caring gentleman, who supported the needy and contributed to worthy causes in society. He was cherished, adored and leaves fond memories to his loved ones," Ruto posted on his Twitter handle.

Other leaders who accompanied the DP included; Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashidy Echesa, and Senators; Kipchumba Murkomen (Elgeyo Marakwet) and Kithure Kindiki (Tharaka Nithi).

Reports indicate that Mzee Mairu died on Saturday night while undergoing treatment at the Nairobi hospital.

He was 94-years-old at the time of his death.

It is still not clear what Mzee Mairu was ailing from as the family is yet to issue a statement regarding his death.
