A legislator from Gusii region has expressed his reservations at the ongoing crackdown by Teachers Service Commission, which targets teachers opposed to competence-based curriculum.
South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro on Thursday accused TSC and education ministry of allegedly harassing innocent teachers 'for no good reason'.
"I want to remind Magoha and his team that the reforms needed in the education section is not about dismissing teachers. Teachers who were sent home from Gusii region should be reinstated before we take over the matter," he said.
Mr Osoro said MPs from Kisii and Nyamira Counties will stand with 41 teachers who were interdicted by TSC from the region last week over defiance.
Osoro urged CS Magoha to 'go slow and stop mistreating teachers' who have undergone necessary procedures to become teachers.
The legislator challenged the education ministry boss to fight for more teachers to be employed and not sacking the few teachers.
The MP urged teachers across Nyamira and Kisii counties to dedicate their time and offer the best knowledge to learners to ensure the region produces the best performing pupils and students in national exams.
