The National Transport and Safety Authority has raised alarm over an alleged exploitation scheme being practiced by public service vehicle operators across the nation.

In a press release on Tuesday, the authority warned against any attempts by operators to increase fares and transport costs as the nation enters the festive season.

The release signed by Director General Francis Meja has warned against any attempts to elevate the costs, contrary to section 30 (3a) of the transport and safety authority of the constitution.

NTSA is now calling upon Kenyans to aid in suppressing the same by reporting any such witnessed anywhere in the country.

It has warned of punitive measures against culpable parties, among them a possible revocation of their licenses .

This comes at a time when the nation is expected to experience a shortage of transport means as millions of Kenyans head back upcountry for end of year festivities.

This has previously resulted to hiked fares and congestion on roads and matatu termini.

The authority has urged Kenyans to maximize on its mobile application to report such incidences for proper measures to be taken against the culprits.
