The allies, from Governors, MPs to MCAs, as well as political fixers, were at Chepsaita, Uasin Gishu County for the burial of Farouk Kibet’s father.

Farouk is Ruto’s aide.

The sleepy Chepsaita village was awakened by the powerful figures as trappings of power left villagers in awe.

Many of the leaders, led by the DP, were dressed in black suites making those in attendance to christen them ‘Men in Black’.

Men in Black was a slang for a group of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) youth group that was reportedly hired to disrupt the party’s election at Kasarani.

However, Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu stood out like a black sheep in his usual casual baggy shirt and pair of trousers.

To residents of Chepsaita, it was a moment of pride as their own son had brought power, literally and otherwise, to the quiet village.
