Party candidate Ochillo Ayacko won narrowly after garnering 85,000 votes with Eddy Coming second closely at 61,000 votes.

The narrow margin raised uproar with ODM politicians from Nyamira condemning the party leadership for handpicking unpopular candidates.

Among those who criticised the Migori episode include Peter Maroro (former Manga MCA), Douglas Maati (Youth leader) and party's MCA Abel Mose.

But in response, Raila Odinga through Secretary General termed the grievances genuine and promised to solve the debacle.

"Congratulations Hon. Dr. Ochilo Ayacko for your election as Migori Senator. Kudos to ndugu Eddy Oketch for a spirited fight. Eternally grateful to the people of Migori for their undying support for the @TheODMparty . We hear the criticism. We aim to always do better as a Party," he wrote.

And nominated MCA Irene Nyakerario, another confidant of Raila Odinga, regretted the party's omission but promised to fix it.

Ms. Nyakerario, who led the Daughters of Raila campaigns, said the party leader has learnt a lesson.

"We are not perfect and we wish to do better. We learn from mistakes and those who we might have hurt, we are sorry."

Mr. Odinga is facing challenges in managing internal primaries with Mr. Sifuna citing limited resources as the major reason.
