The decision by President Uhuru Kenyatta to overhaul his communication team was reached in 2016 June, a year before hotly contested presidential elections, reports Owaahh.com.

Even before that, a spirited team of young men who shaped President Uhuru's run for 2013 elections had waged a war against 'outsiders' particularly Manoah Esipisu, who had been fished from ADB to lead them.

Of the four men included directors to PSCU Dennis Itumbi, Erick Ng'eno, James Kinyua and Munyori Buku, the man who was tipped to be State House spokesman but lost to Esipisu.

And having waged a battle against Esipisu and the team, a furious president, who was now tired of infighting amongst his team, summoned the four along with Munira Mohammed and Big Ted at State House, where the riot act was read.

“I hired Manoah for a reason,” the President angrily said, staring his communications team down, “either take instructions from him or ship out!”.

At this point, it was clear that the man who had been more of a friend to them, had changed tact. It was either they shift mindset to new rules or go.

Mr. Esipisu, the man whom the team had cocked guns against, sat calmly taking notes. And as if that was not enough, the president fired back again.

“You will do what Manoah says. You will send him weekly plans of what you are doing, and weekly reviews of what you’ve done!” adding that they were banned from making any media appearances.

The team largely christined 36 bloggers operated from within State House and had cost persistent discomfort among technocrats in government.

But in August this year, curtains fell down for then as the president shut doors to State House, forcing them to relocate to DP William Ruto's Harambee Annex awaiting end of their contract in 2020.
