Deputy President William Ruto is no doubt a man who has a history in the political arena. Over time, he has been changing his game to favour his political life.
In 2005, DP Ruto was teargassed by anti-riot officers during a protest against then-President Mwai Kibaki regime. DP Ruto was leading other protesters on the streets of Nairobi and chanting “Yote yawezekana bila Mwai”…(All is possible without Mwai.)
Together with his group, DP Ruto was in the company of former politician Martin Shikuku and former Bomet governor Isaac Ruto. They were holding hands as they walk around the streets.
However, their protests were short-lived as police officers dispersed them with teargases. Everyone took off from the itching teargas. DP Ruto didn't waste a minute too, he took off accompanied by his aides.
Tired of the running battles, DP Ruto walked to his car followed people assumed to be his aides. One of his aides helped him wipe his face off the teargas by pouring water on his handkerchief.
The leaders were protesting for the constitutional reforms during former President Mwai Kibaki's time.
“The struggle for Constitutional review has had to reach these proportions. The resolve of Kenyans to have a new constitution is as firm as ever,” said DP Ruto.
