This follows numerous claims from the DP that the party through its leader Raila Odinga is out to weaken the ruling Jubilee Party, to dim his winning chances in the 2022 presidential polls.

But in an interview on Radio Citizen's Debe La Citizen Sunday evening, the MP scoffed at the DP, poking holes into the allegations.

He noted that neither Raila nor the party has anything against Ruto and his future plans, though it's likely to offer him an opponent come 2022.

"Kama ODM hatuna shida yoyote na Ruto. Sisi tumeambiwa tupige kazi siasa zitakuja baadaye kwa hivyo hatuna haja ya kupigana na yeye," said the MP.

It loosely translates to in English: "As the Orange party we have nothing against the Deputy President, we don't have any reason to plot his downfall because the elections are still years away."

However, he noted that the party is not in approval of Ruto's conduct, especially how he has been handling the corruption issue which continues to dominate the political arena.

The lawmaker wondered why the DP is opposed to the fight against graft, questioning his disapproval of the President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila-led campaign to wipe out the menace.

"Tunachojiuliza ni eti mbona hakubaliani nasi katika kupigana na ufisadi? Kama anajua hana hatia, mbona anapigana na vita dhidi ya ufisadi? Pia tunashangaa mbona kila wakati in yeye tu (What we are asking is, why doesn't he agree with us on the fight against corruption? If he knows he is clean, why is he opposed to the anti-corruption fight? We are also wondering why it is him all the time?)?" added the MP.

In past utterances, DP Ruto said branded the fight against corruption as "selective" noting that it is a political arsenal to weaken him ahead of the 2022 debacle.
