President Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday met with leaders from Nyeri county at State House, Nairobi.
The meeting was attended by Governor Mutahi Kahiga, Deputy Governor Carol Karugu, Senator Ephraim Maina, Women Representative Rahab Mukami and all the six Members of Parliament from the area.
The leaders had requested the President to meet them during the Schools National Music Festivals at Sagana State Lodge last week.
According to Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu, the leaders kept off politics but instead petitioned the Head of State to allocate more development projects to the area in order to improve the welfare of the people.
"We presented our specific constituency issues that require National Government intervention and he took note, including delegating what needed follow-up to his team. We also raised our county-wide issues, which he also took note for action where required," he posted on his Facebook page.
Wambugu said Uhuru was elated to meet them since they were the first county in Mt Kenya region he has hosted since he got into office in 2013.
"The President made it very clear that he was extremely pleased with the fact that we are able to come together to lobby for development, as we did. It is clear this is how he would like all counties to work," he added.
The President, however, has not released any official communication about the details of the meeting.
Wambugu, who has been leading a campaign against Deputy President William Ruto 2022 presidential bid, said despite his differences with other Nyeri MPs over DP's ambition, they will continue working together on matters development.
"However whereas we might disagree on political issues, on the development of our County we are all on the same page; and that will not change," the vocal MP said.
