Bahati Member of Parliament Kimani Ngunjiri has bashed President Uhuru Kenyatta over his silence in the ongoing row within the ruling Jubilee Party.
This comes amid an exchange between the party's outgoing Chair David Murathe and a section of members allied to Deputy President William Ruto over Murathe's attacks on the DP.
Speaking in Nakuru on Sunday, Ngunjiri accused the President of snubbing his coordination role as the Jubilee head, instead concentrating on his truce with opposition leader Raila Odinga.
He added that its time Uhuru chose to either stamp authority and sanity in his party or join his new friend Raila in his (Raila) Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
"If the president has joined ODM, please let him defect and go to ODM," he was quoted by the Nation.
He added that Uhuru must disown Murathe and stick to his initial promise to back Ruto as a thank you token for Ruto's efforts that made him President.
He claimed that Uhuru would have lost were it not for Ruto, and should show some gratitude.
“The DP spearheaded the campaign in Rift Valley which saw Mr Kenyatta get overwhelming support. Mr Kenyatta should support his deputy because had it not been for his support, he would not have won the seat,” he added.
Murathe resigned from his position, saying that its a move aimed at giving him ample space to block Ruto's bid.
