Nyeri Central member of parliament Nunjiri Wambugu has blamed the media for what he alleges as wittily driving the agenda of portraying the hotel DisitD2 terrorist attackers as non-Somalis.
"There seems to be a very dedicated and focused media effort to present the non- Muslim terrorist attackers at DusitD2 as the face of that attack," stated Wambugu.
Through his official Facebook page, the legislator further questioned the motive of the media behind his perceived campaign to sanitize the terror group whose deadly operations are well known worldwide.
"Why would anyone dedicate time and resources to show that Al Shabaab are no longer just Somalis? Don't we know how mercenaries work?" Questioned Wambugu.
The outspoken Jubilee MP argues that Al Shaabab remains a terrorist group headed by Somali commanders based in Somalia and no Kenyan would join that deadly outfit without the knowledge of the commanders.
"The truth is that Al Shaabab is a terrorist organisation headed by Somalis. Those making the command decisions are Somalis; including the decision to recruit recently converted non-somali Muslims to carry out the attack in Kenya. There is no way a Kikuyu, Meru or Kisii would join Al Shabaab without the Somali connection," he argued.
Wambugu in his post remains suspicious of the agenda the media is and the powerful people who might be sponsoring it. He termed the recent demonstration by Somalis based in Eastleigh as a mere sanitation stunt that ought to be interrogated thoroughly.
"Whose idea was it and did someone think it was necessary for Somalis to hold demo in Eastleigh? This person (s) are probably the ones behind the Terrorist-are-not-just Somalis campaign going on," he suggested.
