Political analyst Ambrose Weda has observed that opposition leader Raila Odinga could finally realize his long-time presidential dream.

In an interview on KBC English Service's 'The Big Conversation' on Wednesday morning, Weda lauded Raila for making peace with President Uhuru Kenyatta.

This way, he said, the African Union Infrastructure Development Envoy is better placed to finally become the president.

He said that with Uhuru's backing, Odinga is assured of the top seat, unlike in the past where he tried to force his way to power from the opposition side.

"With Uhuru as his friend, Raila is finally on his way to the presidency. Power is normally inherited and not forced out. Only Uhuru can now give it," said Weda.

He advised the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) chief to stick close to the Head of State, warning that another change of heart might subject him to another of the many defeats he has been suffering.

"If he veers off again then he will be beaten again. He should hold on and stay right where he is," added Weda.

Raila is, however, yet to disclose his plans for the 2022 general elections and has actually been in the front line in calling for political calm.

His allies have, however, hinted that he might take his fifth shot at the seat in the much-anticipated contest likely to see him face off with Deputy President William Ruto.
